In 1923, Goodchild held his first solo exhibition in Adelaide. In 1929, he became a member of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts, and the Society's president from 1937 to 1940. Collections include Art Gallery South Australia, Adelaide, Library Congress, Washington, and British Museum, London
