Brian Cleugh

Gateshead Revisited

23 August to 7 September 2014

Brian Cleugh was born in 1932 in Milling Street, Gateshead, a mining town in County Durham, North England. He left school at the age of 14 to become, like his father, a Boilermaker. In 1959 he came to Melbourne for two years, then migrated here 10 years later.

These paintings have been produced over the last fifty years. They depict memories of his hometown, Gateshead, and the people, stories and town he left behind.

This is his first exhibition.
