Kylie Elkington, The Road Travelled

Kylie Elkington, The Road Travelled

In The Road Travelled the titles of many of the works spell out themes of change, weathering, tidal shifts, unstable cliff faces and regeneration. These are not only a feature of Elkington's local environment, bayside Melbourne's Sandringham, but subject matter she has consistently drawn from her travels. The paint handling itself is in the process of metamorphosis. shifting from solid to ethereal.  Viewers are placed at the site of vistas, places Elkington has been visually captivated by and rendered poetically. To complement the paintings, Elkington returns after 15 years to her first love of ceramics, with one set entitled ""How to Draw Plants", a collaboration with artist-husband Richard Dunlop.
